Google has long described itself as the number one corporate renewable energy purchaser in the world. Soon, the tech giant will reach a major milestone and further stake their claim.
Google committed to 100 percent renewable energy back in 2012 and will deliver on that promise sometime within the next 12 months with projects that are currently in motion. That’s no minor feat, considering that in 2015 Google used 5.7 terawatt-hours of electricity — nearly the amount of power used by the entire city of San Francisco that same year.
Reaching this goal has taken ingenuity and flexibility in the face of wildly varied grid mixes around the world.
